Donovan Catholic Students Rally for A Need We Feed
We’re thrilled to share some inspiring news from Donovan Catholic High School. The President and Vice President of the Student Body Council, Rocco and Luke, have organized a Volleyball Tournament fundraiser to benefit A Need We Feed on Wednesday, November 12 at 6 PM.
711 Hooper Ave, Toms River, NJ 08753
Event snapshot
- Two student-led teams will compete.
- Students are donating $15 each to play—~30 of 40 spots are already filled.
- They’re promoting the event across campus and a $2 spectator entry will help raise even more support.
- 100% of proceeds benefit A Need We Feed’s meal program for veterans, homebound seniors, families, and neighbors experiencing homelessness.
Community Response to the SNAP Pause
As many households feel the impact of the ongoing SNAP pause, we’re expanding our outreach and adding meals for clients in need. In November alone, we’ve added 16 meals across five households. Here’s how our community partners are stepping up—and how you can help:
Current Collection Drives
- Toms River Elks Lodge (Washington St., Toms River):
Non-perishable food collection for the next three Wednesdays, 1:30–3:30 PM. - Code 1 Creations (Lacey):
Collecting on our behalf, thank you, Christine! - Berkeley Soccer Association:
Danielle is coordinating a donation drive for our clients, tentatively 11/16 – please confirm with us before dropping off donations.
Most-needed non-perishables: canned proteins (tuna, chicken), soup, chili, shelf-stable milk, peanut butter, pasta, rice, cereal, fruit cups, granola bars.
Coordinating with Fulfill
We met with Janelle, VP of Community Impact at Fulfill, to align on near-term support. Fulfill is concentrating efforts on children and families impacted by school meal gaps and furloughs and has crisis food boxes available that we can request to bridge short-term needs. We’ll match these resources with what comes in from our community collections.
How You Can Help Today
1) Donate to Fund Meals
Every $8 covers one hot, restaurant-quality meal prepared locally and delivered by our volunteers. Your donation lets us scale quickly as needs grow. Donate Now >
2) Support the Donovan Catholic Fundraiser
- Attend on Nov. 12 at 6 PM and cheer on the students.
- Share this webpage and flyer encourage friends to give.
3) Drop Off Food for Our Drives
Bring non-perishables to the Elks collection (Wednesdays in November, 1:30–3:30 PM) or to Code 1 Creations in Lacey. If your team, school, or club wants to host a collection, we’ll provide a needs list and pickup support.
4) Volunteer
We’re onboarding additional delivery drivers and packing volunteers to meet rising demand. If you can help once a week—or once a month—please reach out.
5) Partner With Us
If you represent a school, business, or civic group, we’d love to co-host a drive, fundraiser, or sponsorship. We’ll make it simple and impactful.
Thank You for Showing Up for Ocean County
